Behind the song

“Rich Enough” was about a mentality I had at the time: I had already become financially successful, but it still didn’t feel like enough. Every time I reached another level, the finish line moved. That’s the contradiction behind the hook—I could say I was rich while genuinely believing I wasn’t rich enough.

The verses also gave me a chance to show what I could do technically as a rapper. I’m talking about changing flows, rhyme patterns and timing while actually doing those things in the record. The waterfall, insane-asylum and other imagery were ways of playing with words while showing how differently my mind worked creatively.

But underneath the punchlines and confidence was something real. I was constantly working, finding different ways to make money, running businesses and advertising, and barely wanting to stop long enough to sleep. Success didn’t make me comfortable. It made me want more.

That’s really what “Rich Enough” captured: I had achieved enough to recognize that I was successful, but I hadn’t learned how to feel like anything was enough.

Lyrics & wordplay

I said I told myself to do a different flow today

Instead I showed myself how cool it is to roller skate

Every word I spell for you is to make sure the hate

Keeping growing well past the human rate and to ensure my fate

I was broke as hell with demons on my shoulder blades

I was born in hell even though I overcame

Now I show and tell cuz these niggas deserve the pain

Overwhelmed nah, keep it real I'm overpaid

No debate you can hate but there's no escape

Locked and loaded choppa pointed at the closest face

Know your place watch your mouth like you cloned your face

And I did the hokus pokus how I sold the the yay

And I still don't give a f*ck

Yea I'm rich, but I ain't rich enough

balling on budget bitch I bought a bigger truck

I don't hit and miss

I just hit em up

I just hit em up

And I still don't give a f*ck

Yea I'm rich, but I ain't rich enough

You balling on budget bitch I bought a bigger truck

I don't hit and miss I just hit em up

Watch me hit em up and I still don't give a f*ck

Yea I'm rich, but I ain't rich enough

I said I think I'm bout to do different style tonight

Instead I figured out that music make my town ignite

Found my purpose I'm influenced the sounds I like

Now I got em nervous bout to move in like it's time to bite

How you like it know you do Ima psychic

Yea the flow is like a waterfall or pool you could dive in

Or insane asylum where in every room is me rhyming

Working on the timing now I stick and move like Muhammad

Making money lots of ways now my momma say

Slow down son and contemplate you just not the same

All you wanna is operate every night and day

Damn right all that I can say got no time to sleep

And I still don't give a f*ck

Yea I'm rich, but I ain't rich enough

balling on budget bitch I bought a bigger truck

I don't hit and miss

I just hit em up

I just hit em up

And I still don't give a f*ck

Yea I'm rich, but I ain't rich enough

You balling on budget bitch I bought a bigger truck

I don't hit and miss I just hit em up

Watch me hit em up and I still don't give a f*ck

Yea I'm rich, but I ain't rich enough
