Behind the song
“Wake Up” was about manifesting everything I wanted to the point where my real life was starting to feel like a dream. Things I had imagined were actually happening, and that’s where the idea of knowing “it’s all a dream” but not wanting to wake up came from.
It was also about becoming okay with the friendships I had lost along the way. Earlier in my life, losing people affected me differently. By this point, I was accepting that some friendships were over and continuing forward without them.
The whole song is really about watching the life I pictured become real, trusting my ability to create what I wanted, and accepting that not everyone was going to come with me.
