Behind the song
“Ride or Die” is interesting because the perspective changes as the song develops.
At first, it’s about being completely mesmerized by a beautiful woman—being so attracted to her that she almost has this hypnotic effect on me.
But in the second verse, I deliberately take that attraction somewhere much darker. I start writing from the perspective of someone who has become completely obsessed with her, almost to a psychotic level. What begins as admiration starts crossing the line into fixation.
That progression is really what makes the song interesting to me. It takes the idea of being crazy about someone and pushes the word “crazy” much further than you initially expect.
